Selective studio course (24 ECTS)
This course aims to explore creativity in both a theoretical and practical way.It will explore individual-creativity, group-creativity and organisational-creativity.
We will explore these aspects together and together attempt to answer some fundamental questions about creativity.One of the key questions from a design point of view is to understand the difference between personal artistic creativity and systematic industrial creativity.The course should help us understand this age-old question and allow you to put these insights into practice.We will also focus upon understanding the relation between creative ideas and creative concepts in a design process.
The course has a theoretical base, but will also include some practical explorations of creativity.
At the end of the course you will:
- Be able to relate individual creativity to group creativity and organisational creativity
- Understand the directions taken within the different research threads within creativity research
- Understand how to improve the level of creativity in your work
The course is explorative.This means that we will work together to define and answer the questions about creativity as a group.You wont be served answers, you will have to find them yourselves and develop your own interest within the field The course leader will be responsible for facilitating this.
You will be expected to find an area of interest that you want to explore and to write and present the results of your findings in a written piece of work and through a presentation.
The course is assessed subject to a Pass - Fail grade scale.
Some introductory texts will be given. You will have to then find articles and books that are relevant for your own particular interests.
