Course description

The course is an introduction to structural engineering. Basic topics like forces, moment, graphical and analytical methods, bending, tension and deformation will be covered.

Learning outcomes

Getting a basic understanding of structural engineering. Be able to discuss engineering related problems in the design process.

Contents and teaching methods

Weekly lectures and written exercises.

Exams and assessment methods

Five out of six exercises has to be handed in. Grades received at the exercises, counts 25% of the final grade. The course ends with an exam.

The course is assessed subject to an A-F  grade scale. E  is the poorest pass mark, as stated in the Regulations for Master's degree programmes at Oslo School of Architecture and Design, § 6-14.
